Chork's Puzzle 04

Difficulty Rating: 5

Nick was doing target practice one day. Unfortunately, he wasn't a good shooter and his shots landed all over the board! After 25 shots, he decided to go for a break. Here's a layout of his shots on the board:

His sister, Sally came over, took a look at the board and observed: "You are not a bad shooter actually - all but one of your shots follow a pattern!"

NOTE: In the diagram above, the shots are not labelled in order of how they were fired. The numbering is only for referencing to the first diagram so that you can point out a particular shot more easily.

Which shot (1-25) is the odd one out?

Chork's Puzzle 02

Difficulty Rating: 2

In this room, there are 2006 opened lockers, numbered 1-2006. On Day 1, Ella decides to close every second locker. On Day 2, she heads to every third locker and opens it if it is closed and closed it if it is open. On Day 3, Ella repeats her action of day 2 on every fourth locker (ie open it if it is closed and closes it if it is opened.)

She repeats this action on subsequent days, ie. on day n, she heads to every (n+1)th locker and opens it if it is closed and closes it if it is opened. On Day 2005, she heads to the 2006th locker and shuts it and completes her cycle of actions. (At last she can take a break!)

How many lockers are open at the end of day 2005?

William and Hannah stared at the grid of letters before them. Where is the question anyway? And what sort of answer are they supposed to give? After looking at the paper for the one millionth time, Hannah sighed, crumpled the paper and tossed it away. Surely YOU won't be giving up on the very first Chork's puzzle too? (:

What is the answer?
